Team work is everything. God’s work is never done by one person. It requires a team formed by God.  You can’t achieve your goals unless you work as a team. Millenials are very much into team work. We might be surprised whom God leads to the team. It could be people whom we never imagined. In this passage we see God bringing together a spouse, a brother and a group of elders.

The first team member is your spouse. It is said that behind every great man is an even greater woman. On the journey back to Egypt, Moses grew gravely ill and was laid up at a lodging place, possibly about to die. They saw this strife as related to Gershom. He was Moses’ firstborn son who was traveling with Moses and the rest of his family. Apparently Moses had not circumcised him. In Hebrew eyes, that was the equivalent of not giving him over to God. God helped by inspiring Moses’ wife Zipporah to circumcise their son. When Moses was too weak to do the right thing, his wife stood in the gap.

God brought two brothers, Aaron and Moses together. Moses explained to Aaron about God’s calling. Moses made it clear to his partner in mission. He was showing Aaron that this whole mission was not of human origin. It was from the Lord. God had his hand in this all along. Aaron saw this and committed himself to the mission. We need to be able to inform our siblings in our mission and get them on board.

Vision casting among the elders is essential. There are more people to inform than just the people closest to you. There is a larger sphere. Moses and Aaron knew the importance of getting all the elders of the people on board with God’s plan. When the elders of Israel heard the great news that God was concerned about them and had sent a deliverer, they believed. They were committed and prayed together.

Worshipping the Lord together is vital. They did not make the mission an idol. They knew that they needed to always have the Lord before them and to worship the one who saves. When forming a team, we must make worship and prayer to Jesus the forefront of any mission and not get lost in the busyness of it all. When we regularly worship with all members of the team, we will have a vine and branch relationship with Jesus and bear much fruit to the glory of God.
