12/8/11 THE LORD WILL FULFILL HIS PURPOSE FOR ME

12/8/11 THE LORD WILL FULFILL HIS PURPOSE FOR ME
Psalm 138:1-8                                                      Thursday, December 8, 2011
Key Verse: 138:8                                               Kevin Jesmer NIU UBF

“The LORD will vindicate me; your love, LORD, endures forever— do not abandon the works of your hands.”

Dear Lord heavenly Father, thank you for being there for me. My life has human conflicts from time to time and various stresses of life. But when you are by my side I have hope and peace and comfort in the midst of hardships and stress and strife. Thank you Lord, that because of you, I don’t have to retreat, but I can move forward and hold onto Jesus even in a bumpy ride. Thank you for showing me the way of love, that love overcome a multitude ills. Please help me to resolve every conflict at home, work, and ministry through faith. Lord, I pray for the accident victims. May they be healed and their families be comforted. Please help me to accept your word deeply in my heart. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen!

1. You have exalted your name and your word (1-5).

Verses 1-5 read, “ 1 I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; before the “gods” I will sing your praise. 2 I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness, for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame. 3 When I called, you answered me; you greatly emboldened me. 4 May all the kings of the earth praise you, LORD, when they hear what you have decreed. 5 May they sing of the ways of the LORD, for the glory of the LORD is great.”

David praised the Lord with all his heart. He praised God for his love, his faithfulness, his exalted name, and his word. When he called, God answered and made him bold and stouthearted. David urged all the kings of the nations to praise the Lord for his word, his way of salvation. Let us praise the Lord for the glory of the Lord is great.

I praise the Lord even though I feel very bad about the events of this morning. I praise the Lord, even though I have conflicts with people. I praise the Lord, even though some people hate me. I praise the Lord, even though I experience some weakness of the flesh. I praise the Lord though in the body I am perishing, spoiling and fading away. King David praised the Lord, though he had conflicts with people and made mistakes, major mistakes that even cost people their lives. Therefore I praise the Lord in the storm.

2. The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me (6-8).

Verse 6-8, “.6 Though the LORD is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly; though lofty, he sees them from afar. 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes; with your right hand you save me. 8 The LORD will vindicate me; your love, LORD, endures forever— do not abandon the works of your hands.”
David was a shepherd boy. But God looked upon the lowly David and made him great, even a king, when he was humble. God preserved his servant in the midst of trouble. He stretched out his hand against his enemies and saved him. The Lord had a purpose for David and fulfilled it. David united Israel and became the shadow of the Messiah. God also will fulfill his purpose for each of us. He saves us so that we may be used in his world redemptive history. Praise God for his love endures forever.

God will vindicate me. I will be vindicated before the throne of God. God may intervene in the affairs of the this life. I pray that he intervenes in the affairs of my life at Kishwaukee Hospital. I pray that he intervenes in my relationships with others. I pray that he intervenes in my parents and my sister’s salvation. Who am I? A simple man trying his best to survive and honor Jesus. But God has mercy on me and continues to uphold me despite of my sins and weaknesses. Thank you Jesus. I need you and I depend on you.

Prayer: O Lord, your name is great. Your love and faithfulness are forever. Your word gives life. Lord, fulfill your good purpose in my life.

One Word: Praise the Lord in the storm.
