Mrs. A.D. Jesmer, of Foreston, and Mrs. Louis Plumondore, of Greenbush, made the UNION office a social call last Friday and pledged the editor their support at the polls next November.

Princeton Union, Oct 12, 1911
Mrs. A.D. Jesmer of Park Rapids died on Friday, October 6, at St Mary’s hospital, Minneapolis, where she was taken about a month previous for medical treatment. The cause of her death was attributed to pemphigus, a malady which is very uncommon. She was first taken sick on June 5 and gradually grew worse notwithstanding the fact that several of the very best physicians were consulted. Her sufferings were intense but she bore then to the end without complaint.
The remains were brought to Princeton and from here conveyed to Greenbush, Mrs. Jesmer’s old home, where services were conducted in the Catholic church on Monday morning by Rev. Father Levings, and the interment was in the Greenbush Catholic cemetery. The funeral was attended by a large number of friends and relatives and the floral offerings were beautiful and profuse, showing the high esteem in which the good woman was held.
Mrs. A.D. Jesmer, whose maiden name was Juliann Robideau, was born in Franklin county, New York, on May 26, 1848. She came to Minnesota in 1865, with her parents, and first settled in St Paul, where she remained two years, when the family moved to Princeton. Shortly after she went to Greenbush, where her father took up a claim, to reside. On September 9, 1868, she was married to A.D. Jesmer by Rev. Father Murray (sic Maurer) of Dayton at the home of William Carmody in Princeton. With her husband she resided in Greenbush until 1882, then moved to Foreston and lived there until 1895, when she and her husband took up their abode at Park Rapids. She is survived by an aged mother, Mrs. Catherine Robideau, Deer Park, Wash.; three brothers, Louis Robideau, Greenbush; Joseph Robideau, Deer Park, Wash.; and Henry Robideau, Elk, Wash.; Peter Robideau, Deer Park, Wash.; and two sisters, Mrs. E.E. Whitney, Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Caleb Crook, Deer Park, Wash.
Among the relatives and friends who attended the funeral from out of town were Mrs. Gakski, (sic) Mrs. Aslin (sic), and Mrs. Craig, Minneapolis; Mrs. Davey, Chicago; F.T.P. Neumann and wife, Mr. Lemay and Mrs. Frank Judkins, Foreston.
Mrs. Jesmer was one of the kindest women who ever lived – a woman whom to know was to love and respect. She was a Christian in the true meaning of the word, ever ready to assist her neighbors in the time of trouble- to help the needy and comfort the sick. While her taking away has caused much sorrow to her relatives and dear friends, they know that she has gone to a home where suffering abideth not.

Did Adulphus D. Jesmer Marry His First Cousin? No…But She Was a Second Cousin

Joseph Robideau was the brother of Maryann Jesmer. Here is where it gets a little tricky. Joseph and Catherine Robideau had a girl, Julianne Robideau. She married A.D. Jesmer, the brother of Joseph A. Jesmer. Adolph. D. Jesmer, Maryann Jesmer’s brother in law, married her niece, Julianne. That means that Julianne Jesmer, was the cousin and the aunt of my great grandfather Nelson Adulphus Jesmer. It has been said that A.D. Jesmer married his first cousin, but I don’t think so. Catherine Jesmer (his wife’s mother) was, a first cousin, the daughter of Louis while A.D Jesmer was the son of Louis’ brother Joseph. And so that would make his wife his second cousin. From 1882 to 1895 they were living in Foreston. In 1895 Adolph D Jesmer was 49 years old and Julia A Jesmer was 46 years old. By 1900 A.D. Jesmer was working in saw mill in Todd county 65 miles north west. Later on, they moved to Park Rapids, about 160 miles north of Foreston.
