Northern Youth Programs           http://www.northernyouthprograms.org/BLC-Ministry

Beaver Lake Camp is a ministry of Northern Youth Programs. Beaver Lake Camp opened its doors in 1969 as a Bible camp and a retreat/conference centre as well as a place for discipleship, counseling and training.

Over the years Beaver Lake Camp has become recognized across Northwestern Ontario as a place for Native youth and families to come for rest, to learn about God and to rebuild their relationships with other people.

Beaver Lake Camp is a place of spiritual and emotional healing, a place to learn Biblical ways of living and to spend time with loving Christian people who care for each person who comes.

There has seldom been a time in the existence of humanity that there has not been some turmoil, some pain, or some struggle, that has infringed upon the personal world of youth and the structure of the family, leaving us longing for hope and fulfillment. Beaver Lake Camp has stood within the landscape of Northwestern Ontario since 1969 as a place that offers the time and space to explore and pursue a personal journey towards spiritual and emotional stability – a place to come away from the noise of life to consider relationships and gain perspective.

As a Camp and Retreat/Conference Centre, Beaver Lake presents First Nations youth and families with the opportunity for participation in Camps, Retreats, and Workshops, as well as Discipleship, Counseling, and Training, while exploring the potential in allowing Biblical values to impact our life and relationships. Beaver Lake Camp provides a place where people can learn about God, receive spiritual and emotional healing, and build their relationships with those around them.

Summer Camps

There are four weeks during July when Beaver Lake is bustling with the activity of one of our five-day camps! The first camp is for teens ages 13-16 and the following three camps are for children ages 9-12. Each day of camp is filled with fun and exciting activities like swimming, mini golf, archery, group games, wagon rides and much more.

Our mission is to provide kids with a safe environment that builds self worth and confidence, and encourages positive relational skills with family and peers. In all of our activities through the week we want to teach them that they are important to their family, friends, community, we the staff, and most of all to God; and that their relationship with Him is the most important one for them to develop in life. We want to help them see that they can succeed in life and be a positive contributing member of their home, community and world. We want to respond to the knowledge that, “Today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders”.

Campers arrive on a Thursday morning and stay until Tuesday morning. Everyone is required to visit the registration table, as well as check in with the camp nurse upon arrival. Campers are divided into cabin groups of up to eight and introduced to their cabin counselors. Camp’s kitchen provides three balanced meals every day with snacks in the tuckshop during the afternoon and evening. Other highlights of the week include Family and Drama Night, camp-outs in the Ti Pi’s and Track and Field.

Beaver Lake Camp is a non-profit, charitable organization and a member of Christian Camping International. We are committed to providing quality Christian camping programs for First Nations people. Our trained and caring staff are with the kids 24 hours a day and go with them thru each activity of the day. It is our goal to help teens and kids learn valuable lessons by spending time in God’s great outdoors and to make this experience one that will create fond memories that will go with them for a lifetime.

We encourage you to fill out a registration form [click here] and return it through email blc@beaverlakecamp.org or fax 807-937-5099. Our space is limited to 70 kids each week and it fills up quickly. We would be delighted to see you this summer!

Youth Retreats

Beaver Lake Camp invites First Nations high school-age students and young people to join us for three different Youth Retreats throughout the school year. Retreats are hosted in September, February, and April. Things start off on a Friday evening after school, with a light supper and an evening of games and activities. Youth Retreat is a time when students can interact with peers and adults in a way that creates a fun, loving, secure, experience that will impact their life for eternity. It is a prospect for encouragement and truth through relationships. Throughout the weekend we enjoy scheduled activities, interactive games, and sessions in the chapel. These sessions are usually led by a First Nations speaker or couple. Some of the weekend activities may include volleyball, jug-a-lug, canoeing, tractor rides, mini golf, and in the winter, tubing and hockey. (Oh, and don’t forget jug-a-lug on the ice) The weekend wraps up after lunch on Sunday.

A Youth Retreat Registration Form can be accessed here [  ] or you can call Camp’s Office at 807-937-6748. The registration fee for the weekend is $50.
