Clair Robinson from Paswegin Saskatchewan

Memories of Clair Robinson

Pat Jesmer-Shea

Gloria Hart Jesmer Just wondering if there are any photos of Clair Robinson or his home. Quite a neighborhood character. Still think he was amazing in that his mind was so sharp and he had such a crazy sense of humour.

Gloria Hart Jesmer

Yes im on it.

Whoa Good picture! . Obviously taken before he started looking like Albert Einstein with his wild grey springing hair.

Gloria Hart Jesmer Very handsome and kind gent, all us kids loved him. He would tease and scare us, then make us laugh!!

Charlene Neufeld

Nice looking guy in his younger years! He was quite the character…. every time I smell a certain wood smoke .. I am reminded of Claire…….. Peppermints on Halloween 🎃….

G & G Turnbull faithfully took him to town every Sat.. for supplies & and an outing I suppose…❤️

Pat Jesmer-Shea

Thanks for that memory. I recall the smell of wood smoke too. He wore the same heavy woolen slacks year after year & heated his home with wood. Did u really get peppermints from him on Halloween?

Bev Elke

Charlene Neufeld sure do remember the wood smoke scent!

Wilf Hanson

Pat Jesmer-Shea I remember going to his house on the farm when I was a very small boy .

I think it was a log cabin with a dirt floor .

It smelled kinda good very different but I dont actually remember the scent .

Just that it was very different but pleasant enough

Pat Jesmer-Shea

Wilf Hanson I never was in his home but someone, can’t recall who, told me there were piles of newspapers everywhere. Did you see that Wilf?

Why it’s “ole Clair Robbison” as we used to call him; he was very kind to all the kids in town

Bev Elke

Pat Jesmer-Shea yeah actually he would hide and jump out and roar sometimes but I think it was for the hell of it; then he would laugh. Of course we all used to follow him around and I am sure he got tired of us!!

Sophia Kwasnik-Senger

Yes I remember the smoke smell and also the fact his wallpaper was cartoons he cut out of the paper. I thought that was so cool back then!

Pat Jesmer-Shea

That’s interesting Sophia. Obviously Clair liked kids. I knew he had piles of newspapers everywhere or I thought I knew that. Not sure if that’s because I was in his home or just have false memories that I made up in my own little mind after listening to other people reminisce about Clair.

Pat Jesmer-Shea he was a wonderful man to the kids, as I remember him

Pat Jesmer-Shea

He was my Mom’s uncle but we didn’t see him very often. Long after I’d left home, married & had two kids, I went home for a visit. Mom invited him over for dinner. He came and called my girls by their correct names b4 even being introduced to them. This told me he had figured out in advance who was eldest or youngest & what their names were b4 he even saw them for the very first time. That still amazes me.
