Luke 24:44-49
“44 Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47 and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” (ESV)
The Focus. The focus for the 2013-2014 ministry year is ENGAGE! This one word basically says it all: In every area of life the call is for us to be engaged. The challenge for this year is that we would take what we have been learning through our Bible study of God’s word and apply it in all spheres of life.
God has called us to make disciples of all nations. As such, we must see ourselves as having intentional relationships with people to move them towards Jesus. Therefore, the focus of this year is to “engage!” in such a way to be ambassadors of Christ everywhere, all the time.
Home groups are central to KBC’s mission of making disciples who are engaging the community as a follower of Jesus. Home groups consist of people who meet intentionally to pursue spiritual growth, friendship and support to work out in real life what we are learning on Sunday mornings. It is a safe place to study the Bible, share our life, and ask tough questions. This year we are adding some new groups with some specific focuses to help us apply the Word of God in the specific context of our lives.
Engage! Your Worship
Every Saturday evening at the State Street Offices (201 W. State Street, Sycamore) 6-8 pm. Start preparing your heart for the Sunday morning worship service on the Saturday evening. This group will be spending time looking at the text for the coming Saturday, praying for the ministries, and praying for the people who will be part of their Sunday morning.
