If your church closed its doors, would your community know the difference?- Tony Evans

church doors

I was heading up a house church in a small university/farmtown. We kept the house church going for twelve years. But God led us in a different direction two years ago. We are entering into a new season of life.

Concerning the fruit that was born… by God’s grace we made a difference in a few peoples’ lives. But I do confess we ignored community service as part of our Christian lives. Not many people even knew what we were doing. I think that Christian fellowship should make a difference in their community at large.

But I also agree that spiritual fruit is in the hands of God. God surely has born fruit in through us in ways that we may not be able to clearly identify. My current involvement at KBC is in part the fruit of my involvement in the previous ministry I was in. My kids influence in their schools and Julie and my influence at our working places have born fruit for the glory of God. But the question is, “Would you community know the difference?” The community are all the people of our town, believers and non believers. It is the NIU campus. God sees and knows the fruit that was born among us. He knows the fruit that will grow because of the seeds that were planted. But to the non-believers and even the believers in the community did they even know we existed or did they feel the effects when we shut our doors? I don’t think so. And I am OK with that, because I trust God and God is leading us into the next season of our lives. Praise the Lord.
