Joseph Jesmer and Julia (Plamondon) Jesmer
Joseph Jesmer and Julia (Plamondon) Jesmer are my g-g-g-grandparents. Joseph is also known as Joseph DuHAULT-JASMIN. Julia is also known as Julia (Juliette) Palmondon (PLUMONDON). It is hard for english people to translate french names. They are the ones who saw most of their family members emmigrate from Upper State New York to Minnesota. Later on Joseph joined them. He was living in the generation when the Jesmer name was being anglicized to from Jasmin to Jesmer. Here is the page to tell their story.
Princeton Union 13 Nov 1878. “Mr & Mrs Joseph Jesmer- the parents of all the Jesmers in this county- are out here on a visit. Mr Jesmer is 70 years old, and as spry as lots of men are at 50.”
“Most of the pioneers (Bombay area) – merchants, millers, farmers and teachers – were men of energy, enterprise and rugged character, and nearly every one named had a noteworthy part in the town’s development and in administering its affairs. (p. 15)”

Who is she?
Joseph married1 Julia Plamondon daughter of Ignace Plamondon and Josephte Houle on 9 Jan 1832 in St Regis, Huntingdon, PQ, CAN. Julia was born in Feb 1812 in Massena, St Lawrence, NY. She died after 1878/1885.
Where did she die? Rumored death date is 3 years prior to a visit to Greenbush published in the local paper.
In the St Patricks marriage records she is given the b date of 23 Jun 1809, which is Marie Caroline
Plamondon’s b date, her older sibling by 2.
For want of a better place to keep this info: on 1910 census, parents, both first marriage, Joseph, and
Jenny, probably a “Eugenie”
Also, 1910, Prenation, Mille lacs, MN, living as servant, “Effie? Plumodore”(fem), two doors down from Louis Jesmer and his wife Rose Malotte.
And there is another Julia Plamondon in St Regis, marrying John Taillon, 1 Mar 1840.
The following are the grave stones of Joseph Jesmer and Mart Jesmer. I think that Julie Plamondon Jesmer died and be remarried Mary. This grave stone is in Oak knoll Cemetery in Princeton Minnesota. The pictures may be too big for the site. Copy and save. I can no longer edit the pictures on this website.
