Sasagui Rapids

2nd and 3rd generation site. S

Sasagiu Rapids Campground and Lodge. It is time for only positive and encouraging posts about the believed campground. Our family camped here often in the 1970sa and 1980. It was a very popular place to camp. But it was a wayside park. There were not many rules back then. There was camping on both sides of the bridge. It was first come/first served and I remember it always being packed. I remember playing baseball in the campground. When I got my dirt bike, my Kawasaki KD 100, I would drive it around the lodge with Lyle Sasek. The Sasek family were regular campers there. This area is very well developed now. The owners have done a good job taming this area that was once a free for all camping site.

The main feature of this small park is the Sasagiu Rapids, a rapids in the Grass River between Setting Lake and Brostrom Lake, that runs under the highway. The park was formed in 1974 as a small Wayside Park and expanded boundaries later on. The park area was leased to a private operator in 1992 and continues to operate solely as a campground and recreation area. There is a privately operated campground encompassing the boundaries of the park called Sasagiu Rapids Campground. The Sasagiu Rapids Lodge and campsites (different owner) are just outside the park campground’s south and east boundary.
