St James Anglican Church in Thompson

2nd and 3rd Generation page

St James Anglican Church. Growing up in Thompson I knew that there were many denominations. In the 1970s and 1980s there must have been a huge population of church goers to fill these various churches. I grew up in the Roman Catholic Church. I never attended any other church services. I never knew what happened in any other church service. I attended evening socials in the halls of other churches like the Ukrainian Catholic church, but I did not know what their worship was like. I think most people were like that. It wasn’t until I was 22 years old that I ventured into a church that was not Catholic. I also didn’t know of a church where most of the congregation was Indigenous. After seeing a 2010 picture of a Christmas event in the Anglican Church, it appears most of the congregants were indigenous. The Bindle family went there. Grace Bindle was a faithful attendee. Kelly Bindle and his brother Allan invited me to a youth group event in grade six. Anyway, here is to Thompson’s rich Christian heritage and here is to the good folk of the St James Anglican Church. Live long and prosper!
