Strand Theater in Thompson

2nd and 3rd generation page

This will definitely evoke memories. The Strand Theater. That was a wonderful place. It was where I experienced the frenzy, the screaming and the tossing of popcorn boxes during the Saturday Matinee. The older kid, wishing that the kids in the matinee were a little quieter. It was a place where I cried watching “Where the Red Fern Grows”. There were line ups to “Call of the Wild”. I first saw “Star Wars” there in 1977. A group of us went to see “Gone With The  Wind.” I don’t know how we sat through all 3 hrs of it. Outside I would gaze at the movie posters planning which movie to watch. What about walking along the lineup seeing who was there waiting to get in? Dave and I fooled his mother to take us to an questionable movie, “Buster and Billy” in grade 4. After the movie was a trip to the Norlander to by candy and to look around the shelves.
