The J. Lisle Jesmer Home in St Paul Minnesota

The J. Lisle Jesmer Home. J. Lisle Jesmer was the son of Sidney and Minnie Jesmer. He was the nephew of my g-grandfather, Nelson. He was a lawyer who built himself and beautiful home,  which is preserved today, in St Paul Minnesota. It was known as the J. Lisle Jesmer House. The following is a history of the house and a bio of J. Lisle Jesmer.

“Originally a single family home, the building now serves as home the home of the University of St. Thomas Center for Catholic Studies. A 4-story addition to the rear was completed in late 2009 to the designs of Anderson Dale Architects.”

2055 Summit Avenue: J. Lisle Jesmer House; Built about 1926 (1927 according to Ramsey County property tax records); Georgian Revival in style. The structure is a two story, 3272 square foot, nine bedroom, four bathroom, two half-bathroom, brick house, with a detached garage. Minnesota Historical Society records indicate that J. Lisle Jesmer resided at this address from 1928 to 1934. The 1930 city directory indicates that J. Lisle Jesmer resided at this address. Minnesota Historical Society records indicate that the St. Thomas College Music Department was located at this address from 1945. The Ramsey County property tax records indicate that the property is a vacant lot with a two story, 8758 square foot, building constructed in 1927. J. Lisle Jesmer (1891-1963) and J. Lisle (Joseph L.) Jesmer, Jr., (1919-1985) both were born in Minnesota and died in Ramsey County. The current owner of record of the property is the College of St. Thomas.
