The Oldest Jesmer “Thing” I know: My Great Grandfather’s meat chopper from at least 1885. My Great grandfather, Nelson Adulphus Jesmer, owned a hotel in Bessemer Michigan in 1885. He serve food and had a hand-cranked meat chopper. You put the meat in and crank it and it chopped the meat so that it was tenderized. Inside the tub is an old cast iron iron that was used by my grandmother Alice Jesmer. (Please ignore that.) These survived the decades. Right now (2014) the chopper may be worth 40-70 dollars if you can find someone to buy it.
