Go And Tell About Jesus’ Resurrection

Go and tell also means to disciple the next generation of believers

Mark 16:18 Kevin Jesmer NIU UBF 8-1-11
Mark 16:7-8

Verses 7-8 read, “ 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’” 8 Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid. The angel gave the women direction to help Jesus’ disciples and remind them of his words of promise that after he had risen, he would meet them in Galilee. The women were bewildered and did not go and tell because fear still gripped their hearts.
We are supposed to go and tell others of the Gospel of Jesus’ death and resurrection. We do not because we are afraid of what people think. We are afraid of being rejected. We don’t know how to take the first step. It is easier to let others lead us, even worldly people, than for us to lead others to Jesus and to the cross. There are so many reasons why we don’t go and tell. But we must go and tell others about Jesus and the love of God and the resurrection from the dead.
People are suffering and dying in their sins. Even if they are well fed and well clothed, they still suffer from meaninglessness and emptiness. I know, I was before meeting Jesus. They need to know the truth and have the only hope that will set their hearts free. That truth is the gospel of Jesus’ death and resurrection. We just need to get over the things that hinder us from coming out of our comfort zone and open our mouths and speak the fact that Jesus has risen!
