South exterior of the Baptistère Saint-Jean in Poitiers, with the cathedral in the background. The baptistery dates from c.360, making it the oldest church in France. However, it was significantly modified in later centuries. The rectangular main building is 4th century, but the polygonal narthex and small side apses date from around 1000.
