The visit of Pierre Elliot Trudeau. In 1969 the Prime Minister visited Thompson. In 1970 the Queen of England and her entourage visited our fair town. There were a lot of dignitaries paying us a visit. It was because people were marveling at this mining town carved out of the Northern Manitoba wilderness. In 1969 I was five years old. I remember Trudeau coming later on in a second visit. He had a stage in the Bay parking lot.
