Trip to Montreal Quebec: Stop Over At Niagara Falls . 10-27-14. On our way back to Illinois, Sarah and I stopped at Niagara Falls. She had not seen the falls. We wanted to see the Canadian side of the Falls. I didn’t know why people were so excited about the Canadian side, but now I know. We arrived there at supper time. Approaching the area, through Hamilton and St Catherines Ontario was like driving through a huge city. The area was full of cars, expressways, strip malls, parking lots and tall buildings. I thought, “What is so great about all this concrete and traffic?” But then, as we got into the area of the Falls, suddenly I could see why people think it was so great. There was a 4 block area of wax museums, haunted houses and Jurassic Park mini golf, giant ferris wheel, inexpensive gift shops and hotels. It was like downtown Baraboo in Wisconsin Dells. It was a lot of fun being there. The food was inexpensive, but the attractions cost about $12/per person to enter. The Falls were lit up by beams of colored lights. It was beautiful. They say that there are fireworks. The Canadian side gave a great view of both portions of the Falls. The American side is more like a national park. Some people may like the American side because it is more peaceful and natural and quiet. Here are some pics of Niagara Falls at night. For those who want to visit, they are an eleven hour road trip from Dekalb Illinois, going to Buffalo New York.
