William Dwyer and Nora Lee Dwyer- my kids g-g-grandparents from County Cork Ireland.

William Dwyer and Norah Lee Dwyer, my kids g-g-grandparents from County Cork Ireland.  This couple of people are the immigrant ancestors of the Nugent family. They came from county Cork in Ireland. The eventually settled in California. They are Helen Nugent’s grandparents. (Her mother’s, Sarah Maude (Dwyer)Mass, parents.) They had eight children. The young girl, (several pictures at different ages) is Sarah Maude Dwyer, the daughter of William and Nora. They came from County Cork Ireland and took the train to California with four kids. They lived in Bakersfield and Maryville California. William worked for the railway. One of his kids was bit by a rattle snake. They tried to get him medical help by transporting him in a two man rail car. They could not save the child. Nora died when Sarah was 18. Sarah was born in 1894.  Therefore Nora died in 1912. Sarah never went to college, but she went to business school.

Their children (in order of age) are: Molly (Mary), Harry, Josephine, William (Bill), Valentine (Tine), Edwin, , Frank, Sarah (Maude)

Molly married William

Harry lived in Arizona and become a Free Mason.

William was a hobo and rode the rails. “He either had money or had none.”

Valentine married Tom Fitzsimmons. They had one child.

Edwin married Margaret and they owned a dry cleaning business on Ellis Street in San Francisco. They had no children. Uncle Edwin lived in San Francisco.  He was my mom’s brother. Thus the Dwyer. My dining room furniture is from his house in SF.  He also paid for the twin bed set that you girls had growing up. He ran a dry cleaners in the Tinderloin district.  They lived out in the Avenuesl. Uncle Edwin lived in San Francisco.  He was Sarah Maude (Dwyer) Mass’ brother. Helen Nugent’s (Julie’s mom) dining room furniture is from his house in San Francisco, California. He was a generous man, paying for the twin bed set that Julie and her sisters grew up with. He ran a dry cleaners in the Tinderloin district.

Sarah married Albert. They lived in Los Angeles and had two daughters, Patricia Josephine and Mary Helen Nugent.
