On the 1880 census there is a “Bertie” Jesmer living with Nelson E & Sarah, born <1873>.  I’m gonna assume that this is Hiram Burt?  Also on the 1895 Mille Lacs census with Nelson & Sarah. An article it states that Hiram Burt is marrying Julia Nyquist at his parents home, that of NE Jesmer.

Hiram’s WWI draft paperwork refers to his wife, not his parents.  It also makes sense that he would have moved to Washington State with his parents, Nelson & Sarah.

I find Hiram with Julia in MN on the 1900 with his daughter, Helen.  I also find him in Washington on the 1910, 1920.  In LA for the 1930, then a death record in LA for him in 1932. – Theresa (Genealogist)

Why I believe that is the picture of Hiram Bert Jesmer. The group picture is on the porch of the Old Snyder hotel at what is now Glacier National Park.

Group on porch of old Snyder Hotel, left to right: Denny Comeau, Eddie Cruger, Thomas “Uncle Jeff” Jefferson, Bert Jesmer, Ruth Cruger, A.M. Day, Lydia Cruger, and Mrs. Day, ca. 1900.

He is labeled as being Bert Jesmer. In the picture is a couple with the last name Day. Hiram Bert’s uncle Moses A. Jesmer was living near Denver and his wife was Effie Day. Moses was also in business with a man named Day. They had  a store called “Jesmer and Day”. It would not be surprising that Hiram Bert would be hanging out with some Day’s. He is also wearing a white smock. It makes him look like a cook. Apparently Hiram Bert was a baker in Seattle later on. I also have pictures of his father. One, I believe is a picture of Nelson at a Jesmer July 4th picnic in 1900 in Greenbush Township MN. Hiram looks like his dad. He has the same build, a mustache, the same dark hair and face shape and he holds himself the same way when sitting down. Based on all of this I believe that the group photo on the hotel steps contains Hiram Bert Jesmer.
