This pedestrian bridge in the City of Thompson is a small portion of a much larger structure that spanned the Burntwood River from 1957 to 1970. Named the Bailey Bridge after Sir Donald Bailey (1901-1985), a British War Office designer who invented a portable bridge that could be built quickly and efficiently with a few simple hand tools, this particular bridge was manufactured at Appleby, England.
